France coach Laurent Blanc has said that Franck Ribery has been omitted from the national team due to his poor form.

While Ribery has been constantly regarded as one of the France's top players since he rose to prominence on the back of several sterling performances at the 2006 World Cup, he failed to live up to his own high standards at the 2010 edition in South Africa.

Furthermore, his role in the team's infamous boycott of a training session following the expulsion of Nicolas Anelka from the playing squad saw him slapped with a three-match ban by the French Football Assocation.

Ribery has yet to return to the national team fold since his ban ended, and Blanc has revealed his continuing omission is only based on footballing reasons.
