PLATINI BELIEVES

The UEFA president Michel Platini has said that he believes that the current French national team manager Didier Deschamps is the best man right now to lead the national team. The former France legend is currently the head of the European football governing body UEFA. The three-time FIFA Ballon d’Or award winner has been regarded as one of the best players in the world. France have had immense success under his regime, which was even replicated under the Zinedine Zidane era. However, in recent times, the French football has become the source of numerous controversies and infighting within the squad.

As a result, they have been unable to perform well since the 2006 FIFA World Cup when the Golden generation of the French players took part. The 44-year-old Didier Deschamps has taken over from Laurent Blanc looking to restore the confidence and winning mentality within the French squad. He has already done a lot of good things with the national team. This includes the draw against the world champions Spain at their home, while also beating the Euro 2012 finalists Italy on their home patch as well. It has not gone unnoticed after Michel Platini has hailed the new manager by saying that he is the perfect man for the job.

“His life as a footballer was great, his life as a coach has been great. Didier totally justifies himself being a manager. People often ask me about the team selection regarding high-profile players. They’re the ones who will need to show us that. There are young players in the French team, we cannot judge them right now,” said Michel Platini. One of the biggest tasks for Deschamps will be to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup as the group winners, which will be tough due to the presence of the world champions Spain.
