BENZEMA HITS BRACE IN VALENCIA WIN

France international Karim Benzema was back to his best with two goals as he helped his Real Madrid team to a convincing 4-1 home win over Valencia in a Spanish La Liga game. The big victory over Los Che ensured that Real Madrid opened up an eight-point lead at the summit as they bounced back from the defeat to Getafe.

2022 didn’t start on a good note for Real Madrid who were beaten 1-0 by Getafe in their first La Liga game of the New Year. EnesUnal scored the only goal of the game to give resurgent Getafe a big win over the 13-time European champions.

MADRID INJURY BOOST AHEAD FOR CHELSEA

Real Madrid have been handed a double injury boost ahead of their Champions League semi-final clash with Premier League outfit Chelsea following the news that Ferland Mendy and club skipper Sergio Ramos are fit for the game.

France international Mendy and Spanish player Ramos both travelled with the Real Madrid squad for the second leg of their last four tie with West London giants Chelsea. France player Mendy has been out of action for some weeks, while Ramos has not played since the March international break.

Benzema should return for France

Karim Benzema has not played for France in just over two years and it appears his international career is over but Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas believes there is still a chance he can get his place back.

He is firmly of the opinion that French boss Didier Deschamps should bring the Real Madrid striker back to the fold as he would bring a new dimension to the team.
