France set to protest playoff seedings

As the 2014 World Cup qualifying schedule reaches a nail biting culmination, a problem has broken out regarding the seeding organization being used for the playoff draw next week.

France, who are 3 points behind defending European and World champions Spain in Group I in the final series of matches, are presently ranked down at twenty five by international governing body FIFA and they are almost sure to be unseeded as probable rivals Sweden, Greece, England, Bosnia Herzegovina, Portugal and Croatia, who all ranked in higher spot,  even twenty sixth ranked Ukraine are set to overtake France if they defeat San Marino later today.

The 2 legged winner takes all playoff match schedule happens in November but the France has stated that seeding system is not right because some ranking points were usable in their 5 country qualifying group when all other groups – all comprised 6 teams. It is a fair call even though France knew about the anomalousness before the contest even started.

While speaking to a leading radio station, Noël Le Graët, the president of the French Football federation, told that they would contact FIFA regarding this. There is a little injustice between the group of 5 and the groups of 6. France’s rivals from other groups have been able to score more points and this is a fact. Its unsure whether FIFA will take pity on teh cause celebre though, and the latest football betting odds suggest that France will still have a lot of work to do in order to reach the Finals.

As per the rule of the FIFA, the qualifying matches are worth 2.5 times more points compared to international friendly matches.
