France international Paul Pogba has backed Alexis Sanchez to come good for Manchester United during the course of the current campaign. The Chilean attacker joined the Red Devils from Arsenalduring the 2018 winter transfer window but he has since struggled to produce consistent performances with just three goals from 23 appearances.
“He trains very well, he always tries to help the team, talks with the team and everything. He will get used to it. When you play a long time with another team and you play different football in that other team you have some kind of adaptation that you have to have. It’s not that he is playing bad. We know that Alexis Sanchez can bring a lot and I’m sure he will. I’m sure he will.”
During the backend of last season, Sanchez was highlighted by many to be struggling to adapt to United’s style of playing after joining them only at the midway stage. However, his fortunes have not quite changed during the current campaign and he has managed just a solitary assist for Jose Mourinho’s side across all competitions.
United have endured a tough start to the season with just three wins from their opening six games and this sees them placed seventh on the table with an eight-point deficit to league leaders Liverpool. Next up, they have a League Cup third round tie against Derby County on Tuesday night and the game may witness Sanchez start from the bench with Anthony Martial a probable candidate to take up the left-wing role.
